How do I get started with Fledgling?
You can get started by booking a free consultation. We'll get to know each other, talk about your project, and learn more about your unique needs. Kate will develop and share a Project or Package proposal for your review and approval after the call. If everything looks good, we'll handle the details and schedule a kick-off.
Needing help on the fly? Request an Office Hours session by emailing Kate at kate@fledglingeditorial.com. In your email, please explain more about your project and problem. Kate will review your request, determine if Office Hours are right for you, and respond to schedule within 24 hours. Office Hours are invoiced up front for a flat rate of $300.
Why charge flat rate?
Fledgling charges flat rate to keep pricing as fair and accessible as possible for our clients - you pay for what you need, whether that's a full chapter re-write, a short research project, or simply some time to talk and troubleshoot. And you won't be surprised by extra hours at your next invoice either.
Flat rate helps keep editors efficient, too - the better and faster we work, the more we can take on.

How long will my Project take?
We all know that writing and editing projects can end up being unpredictable - but writing doesn't have to be inefficient. Most editorial and strategy projects are turned around in 72 hours or less. Most ghostwritten projects, with the exception of book-length works, are completed in 10 business days or less, from kick-off to final review.
How do we do it? Lots of practice, time on task, and smart project scoping. And we use generative AI only when it makes sense to do so and is approved by you in advance.
